My brother and I never got along when we were children. Even as older teens, we would still argue about everything. It's funny how time and growth changes things. As it turns out, at my wedding, my brother stood by me even when my bridesmaids were off doing … whatever they were doing. He was an amazing usher, taking everyone to their seats and making them feel comfortable, he handled his reading during the ceremony well even when he was given the wrong passage to read, and, from what I understand, at the reception he went from table to table asking if everyone had everything they needed. On that particular day, my brother went above and beyond to make me feel special and loved.
Of course, he's still helpful and encouraging even two years after the wedding! I don't know what I would do without him!
But now he is off at college over 4 hours away from home. He's a bit late to the whole college scene since he explored his options for a few years after high school taking a while to decide what he wanted to do with his life. I'm so glad he finally did since he is now happily living it up with his buddies at college and studying to become … who knows what?
(With selfies like that, you can never really tell!)
In honor of my brother being away at college and having to sort (or not sort) his own laundry, let's have another giveaway, shall we?!
Ever heard of Purex No Sort for Colors Detergent? It would be perfect for my brother! (And who am I kidding?! me!) It's a great new laundry detergent from Purex that prevents color bleeding using a dye transfer inhibitor so that, if you fail at sorting laundry, you won't have to worry about color bleeding accidents! Super cool, right?!
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Don't forget to enter the NEW Purex No Sort for Colors Detergent Giveaway on the Purex website where a grand prize winner will win $1000 and a year supply of Purex No Sort detergent! (I even gave you an entry into my giveaway for doing this! Woo!)
Best of luck to all who enter! Have a fantastic Wednesday!

My brother has saved my life twice. Once when I was looking over on the top of the feris wheel only to find out the carnie didn't lock my seat and my brother pulled me up as a started to fall and once when I was swimming. I always tell my oldest son he wouldn't be here without his uncle!
ReplyDeleteaww! That's so sweet! :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful little story!

My favorite sibling memory was my brother and me playing on things that he built himself, like our tree house.
ReplyDeleteFavorite memory playing barbies with my little sister in a huge playroom field with barbie stuff
ReplyDeleteI remember living in the city and playing barbies on the front stoop to the house - we didn't have real barbies, but other kids did -- and they even had a chance of clothes to share!

ReplyDeleteOne can never have to many : ) Good Luck !!! RC as Denise Davis
DeleteI would say enjoy your time in college because you will make some really good friends there!
ReplyDeleteandysavi.mom@gmail.com
Most defin! The friendships from college are some of the strongest bonds I still have with friends!
DeleteMy brother is the oldest and I am the youngest in my family. I odolized my big brother and he joined the marines when he graduated from high school and I missed him so much when he was in bootcamp. The whoke famiky drove done to see his graduatiin and even 30 something years later the memory of him marching out in front of me fills me with oride.
ReplyDeletePack otc medicines. Cough, cold , alkergy. Whatever you can think of. My daughter goes to college out of state and when she got sick she didn't have anything and no car and I felt awful.
ReplyDeleteI used to be the same way!
Deletefave sibling memory -- renting a red convertible sports car for the night and driving to the city to see Journey/Def Leppard in concert.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun!
DeleteFor college students away from home... choose wise friends who live off campus and might just let you use their laundry machines so you're not always carrying around a roll of quarters. Let yourself free to explore and learn about life independently. College is more like a school of life than a school of trade anyways.
ReplyDeleteMy son did this. Instead of getting a roll of quarters, he worked out an agreement with an off campus friend. He gave him the $10 to use his machines. Win win
DeleteFavorite memories of my siblings.. just playing together and being young. Nothing better than that.
ReplyDeleteChildhood memories are the best. No matter how old you get nothing is better than reminiscing about your childhood.
DeleteMy advice would be to keep memories around, pictures and mementos from home, call often and keep in touch. Thankfully, we have internet and ways of keeping in touch these days.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHeaded to a birthday party today. I hope I am not late. I am always late! Maybe if I won this prize, I wouldn't be spending so much time sorting, and would be on time..... maybe??? LOL, probably not.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memories with my siblings involve swimming. We had a pool and we would play for hours in the pool. Marco Polo, hand stands, holding our breaths, fun times :)
ReplyDeleteMy advice to your brother in college is to get involved in groups and activities. This is a great way to make life long friends.

When I was 2 the cat knocked over the lamp in out house and started a fire. My brother pulled me out of my crib and took me outside.. I am thankful for that. We are both in our 30s and live our separate lives but I will forver be grateful for him saving me.
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I used to play for hours on the trampoline!
ReplyDeletemy siblings and i would too! i miss jumping on the trampoline, i just might have to get one for my back yard.

My advice would be for college students to go to school for something that enjoy doing. A lot of people try to encourage students to go for high paying jobs but money isn't everything.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that spring is here.
ReplyDeleteI have so many good memories with my brother it's hard to think of just one. I guess one of my favorites was getting to ride to school with him when he started driving.
ReplyDeleteI was the youngest sister, so I was the one who my older sister had to take with them on their adventures with their friends. On one particular adventure we were at a park, no idea where. Everyone was running up the hills so they could roll back down and I was little, so having trouble keeping up. Both of my sisters came down and each held a hand and helped me run to keep up with the kids, they even rolled back down the hill with me so they could help me go back up. They were always gracious when they took me along, but that day they made me feel like I was the person they most wanted to be there!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your college years as much as you can while never forgetting that you're there for the education and the parties and wild nights are a side benefit, lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not going anywhere for Spring break, but in July I'm going to Alabama to see my brother and his wife! I can't wait!
ReplyDeletefavorite sibling memory would be getting dressed up and being paraded down the streets in a wagon with all our stuffed animals.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring!!! The sun is finally out and greenery is coming back to life.
ReplyDeletei am a college student as well!!
ReplyDelete- don't max out your loans -- you'll be happy later!
- get a campus job if you can to have some spending $
- take part in activities on campus - aside from partying and sitting around, it's really nice to enjoy what college has to offer. my boyfriend and i have gone to broadway shows, baseball games, fancy dinners, amusement parks, movies, and comedy shows for $10 or less each time!!
- rent or buy books from dealoz.com NOT the bookstore (my little secret!)
- buy college room items that can be used later on after college (not too college-y, such as buying bedding that is neutral, nicer quality lamps/dishes/decorations - you can save some $ later by using this stuff until you have a job with an income to buy new things!)
- join clubs/honors societies - take leadership positions to be a great resume builder
- get an internship! most jobs now require 1 year experience minimum! even a work-study job can be used as one yr experience if it can be considered relative to your job field!
i'm graduating college in two weeks! phew it flew by!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for school to be out......ready for summer.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for my birthday.
ReplyDeleteI love that flowers are blooming.
