Help!
Over the past few days I've gotten to enjoy a break from my hectic life. The kids I care for are skiing in Colorado and the company I do consulting for has remained quiet. I suppose I'm on what you call spring break.
What do you do on spring break?
Go on vacation?
Sleep in?
For me, spring break was initially going to be about catching up on life. I was going to get up early every day, blog (as usual), … and just, y'know, catch up. (Sorry. I don't really feel like sharing my intimate life details with you all today.)
Anyway, on Tuesday, one day into my break, I'm doing my work, getting caught up, and I notice something moving. When you are using your peripheral vision and you have dark hair, you typically aren't too alarmed to see something like that. It's just like "Oh – it's just my hair." Perhaps I had moved my head just the right amount to cause movement? Whatever. I decided to look anyway, just in case.
If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that I am horrified of roaches. When you live in an older home in the city, you expect to see them. It doesn't matter how many times you spray, they always come back. I think I once read that roaches are the only living creature that can survive an atomic bomb going off. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case…
But what I saw when I moved away from where I was sitting, to get a better view, was not a roach.
It was worse.
Needless to say within minutes I had Justin on the phone. "What do I do?" I asked.
I tried to describe what I had seen … and I failed pretty miserably. Nevertheless, Justin shared his opinion: KILL IT. (duh.)
Then, clean EVERYTHING.
So much for spring break!
By that point the creature had (unsurprisingly) scurried away, so I had no option but to follow Justin's orders. (That's what happens when you turn your back for like two seconds…)
Over the next few days I found myself scrubbing, washing and cleaning every crevice, in my bedroom, where I had initially seen the thing. I dusted, I vacuumed, I trashed… If it is a household chore that can be done in the bedroom or master bath, I did it. (Luckily, when Justin got home from work, he helped. #lovinghusband)
Then, we sprayed. Because why not?
I didn't think we were that messy, but now I'm ready to tackle the rest of the house. It was on my list of things to do anyway…
And I can only assume that that thing will not soon return for a friendly visit… Or at least I hope it won't.
You never know though.
The good news in all of this is that I managed to somehow get my husband to clean his area of the room (!!!) AND I got to try the new Purex Crystals ScentSplash, which added an amazingly refreshing scent to my laundry!
