Walking King Street…

After quenching your appetite with all of the delicious food from Friday's post, you probably have enough energy to last you for days! (Or maybe you need a nap? What do I know?) Either way, if you are looking for the best place to shop in Charleston to kill time while all of the alcohol wears off, I recommend King Street. Here you will find a variety of shops to fit every budget … and I imagine you will be able to find almost anything you are looking for! Here's my guide for King Street and the shops I like:

Lower King (from Broad Street to Market Street) is the Antiques District

* Preservation Society of Charleston Book & Gift Shop, 147 King St.
* John Pope Antiques, 180 King St.
* George C. Birlant & Co. Antiques, 191 King St.
• Brooks Brothers, 205 King St. – men's clothing
• Forever 21, 211 King St. – teen fashion

Middle King (from Market Street to Calhoun Street) is the Fashion District

• Anthropologie, 260 King St. – women's clothing, accessories, & decor
• Savannah Bee Company, 270 King St. – Honey!
• Half-Moon Outfitters, 280 King St. – sportswear and outerwear
• Apple, 301 King St. – Apple. 'nough said! :)
• Urban Outfitters, 371 King St. – BoHo inspired clothing

Upper King (from Calhoun Street to Spring Street) has been dubbed the Design District

* Blue Bicycle Books, 420 King St. – Books!
* One Love Design, 478 King St. – Custom-designed wedding dresses.
• West Elm, 484 King St. – Furniture and home accessories.
* Magnifilous Toy Emporium, 525 King St. – Toys!
* Affordabike, 573 King St. – Bikes.

As you can see, King Street has something for everyone! Whether you are a bike enthusiast or looking for the perfect antique, you are sure to find it on this one mile stretch of King Street.

There are three parking decks you can use to access King St. all of which charge approximately $1 every half hour. Alternatively, you can bring quarters to pay for on street parking. Don't expect shop owners to provide quarters in exchange for your dollar bills; no one in Charleston will! But if you know this in advance and can prepare, you are good to go!
