Coastal Beaches Wanderlust

Over the past few years I've spent my share of time in the Charleston and Savannah areas exploring every inch of the coast that I can, but there are miles and miles of Georgia and Carolina coast that I have yet to see. Here is a list of beaches I have yet to explore that are currently on my wanderlust list. :)

  1. I LOVE Ocracoke! Sadly, it's been several years since we've been, but I'm hoping to remedy that this year. We've also been to Rodanthe, but I prefer Ocracoke.

For some reason your comment on my page isn't appearing just yet (think it's a Disqus snafu), but wow, yeah, that is rough being a nanny and not technically having any PTO or time-off in general allowed in your schedule. I really don't like government interference into different things, but I do wish employers would take the initiative to improve vacation day policies in the U.S. I strongly believe that time off makes us healthier, more productive and efficient workers! 1. It's awesome that you've been to one of these beaches! Like I said, I've never been to any of them, so it's great that you were able to recommend one over the other. Now I know to try visiting Ocracoke before Rodanthe. I'm guessing Rodanthe is pretty touristy due to the Nicholas Sparks book.

Sorry the comment was taking a while to appear. I'm like you – I think the US should encourage employers to give employees more time off. Most people I know feel that they simply can't take time off or they'll lose their job. The result is that they miss out on a lot of unique (educational) experiences. Hopefully, things will change in time… America has a lot it could improve on! :)

  2. Road trip?

I've never been to the east coast. I have, however, seen many beaches on the west coast. Although, I don't go that often, which is funny as I live, like, 15 minutes from the ocean.

    1. Sounds like fun! I'll probably just be visiting each beach individually until I've seen them all. I've just got to get out of my Charleston/Tybee Island rut that I'm in. I always go to the same places. But, then again, I know them really well and I know what I like to do there. So there's that… :)

I'd love to visit the beaches on the west coast. I know everyone says this and no one does it, but I'd love to live 15 minutes from the beach and be able to go walk on it every single day. #TheDream :)

  3. Whoa! What a list! I have never visited any of this places but it will be great to stop by several of them. I think I will add them all to by bucket list since I can choose which one is my favorite.

    1. lol. No idea. Wherever my husband will take me. :)

Probably the Georgia beaches since I live in Atlanta. They are closer than some of the Carolina beaches on my list.

    1. Is it really? I guess people typically flock to the cities rather than the coast. Especially the east coast. And if you are going to the beach, it's typically to Florida, right? *shrugs* Hope you get to visit some day! :)

  8. I'm from the Carolinas and the only place I've been to on your list is Wilmington. It's a great list, though, I'm saving it for later!

  10. I just had my first trip to Charleston and instantly fell in love because it was so pretty! I definitely want to visit some more of the Carolina coast soon! I think that it'd be fun to visit Rodanthe, especially since I read the Nicholas Sparks book.

    1. I've never read the Nicholas Spark's book, but I "heard" about it when I was researching the beaches in this post. I'll have to check it out. :)

    1. lol. I totally *get* it. I haven't visited any of these beaches either, but I'd love to! And since I live so much closer than you, I really don't have a choice, do I? :)

  12. These beaches are all stunning. I have no idea how you're going to choose which to visit first! What I particularly like is that they all seem nice and quiet. Maybe that's just clever photography, but there's nothing better than a beach to yourself. Beautiful!

  13. Wilmington NC made me think of Wilmington DE, and then I realized it was a different state. But the beach there doesn't look as tantalizing as the other beaches on your list. Maybe that photo doesn't do it justice. Courtney - Maui Jungalow.
